Reflection Friday: How much do you really want it?

We all have aspirations, goals perhaps a crafted vision of our life, success and relationships. I have a big vision for my business to impact 10,000 account and key account managers by empowering and equipping them to have more profitable customer conversations that lead to predictable sales growth by December 31st 2020.

I was struck with a question by a coach this week about the goals and vision I had. 

How much do you really want it?

My answer was immediately "I really want this?"

WHY? I threw out a hasty answer and he asked me again WHY?

I took a moment and felt myself take a breath and eventually found the answer that was supposed to be my first.

It dawned on me that my mission is more than just to teach and share the art of key account management. I wanted to impact lives through it. Change the beliefs and possibilities that hold people back from seeing greater and consistent success. I want to transform the way B2B customer relationships are experienced by every account manager connected to a customer on the planet. I wanted to leave a B2B relationship legacy.

That was why I wanted it but the question remained. How much? 

I'll ask the same to you. You maybe at work right now, taking a break, on your way to work, at home, on the train. Do you really know what you want?

  • How much are you willing to grow to reach it?
  • How uncomfortable are you willing to get?
  • How much are you willing to invest in yourself to attain it?
  • How much are you willing to sacrifice to get it?

The extent to which you or I can answer these questions is directly related to how high we'll go and how far we'll reach. 

We often want others to give us guarantees in life but we never give ones to ourselves

The guarantee that we'll never give up? The guarantee that we wont give in to our values to short cut success? The guarantee that we wont allow our comfort zone to keep us from our Champion experience? 

Before this day is over decide to cultivate your desire around what you want. Start exploring your WHY and make a commitment to yourself to do what it takes to get there.
